Bruce L. Shapiro is an experienced civil litigator with over twenty years experience in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey. A 1982 graduate of New York University School of Law, he also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the United States Naval Postgraduate School.

Mr. Shapiro spent more than sixteen years with Shanley & Fisher (now Drinker Biddle & Reath) in Morristown and Florham Park, New Jersey, retiring in 2005. Prior to Shanley & Fisher, he was with Lester Schwab Katz & Dwyer in New York City. During his two decades of large firm practice, he handled a variety of litigation matters arising from, among other causes, airplane crashes, industrial and automobile accidents, insurance fraud, and commercial disputes.

Prior to law school, Mr. Shapiro served twenty years as both an enlisted man and a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. As a designated Naval Aviator, he flew more than 900 combat missions as a Helicopter Aircraft Commander during three tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. His personal decorations include forty-six awards of the Air Medal, two awards of the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V”, and the Navy Achievement Medal.

Mr. Shapiro is the former Chair of the Aeronautics Committee of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York and a member of the Aviation Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation and the New York State and Hunterdon County (New Jersey) Bar Associations. He is also the New Jersey correspondent for the Defense Research Institute Aerospace Law Committee’s Compendium of Related State Laws.
